Kaladze cited for ref abuse

AC Milan defender Kakha Kaladze has been reported to Italian soccer's disciplinary board for criticising a referee who gave a late penalty that allowed Torino to draw on Sunday.

In the citation, the 30-year-old Georgia captain was said to have made statements liable to damage the reputation of ref Stefano Farina.

Kaladze apologised for his outburst Monday, saying he had not called the referee's ability into question but only argued the decision was wrong.

The central defender denied press reports that he called referee Farina ''poor''.

Kaladze was widely quoted Monday as calling the decision ''scandalous'' because the ball - as subsequent replays appeared to show - hit him on the upper thigh before bouncing onto his arm.
