Marcello Lippi said Thursday he was ''very happy'' to have equalled the legendary Vittorio Pozzo's unbeaten streak as Italy manager and hopeful of getting two World Cups like his 1930s predecessor.
''I'm very happy to have equalled Pozzo's record, it's something that makes me proud - and the important thing is that there's a World Cup victory in the middle,'' said Lippi, who lifted the trophy in Berlin in 2006.
Lippi said the 2-1 World Cup qualifying win against Montenegro Wednesday night showed his team was ''growing'' after a lacklustre start to its campaign and was now ''perfectly'' positioned to clinch the group when play restarts at the end of March in Montenegro and then against Ireland in Rome.
''The boys were spectacular,'' he said, while admitting that, if Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani ''built'' the win with two goals, Palermo goalie Marco Amelia ''saved it with two great saves''.
''Suffering is part of the DNA of any great team, as long as it has players with the right stuff, like we have''.
