Italy's World Cup winning coach Marcello Lippi has given the strongest hint yet he might consider a return to the Azzurri helm.
Asked about his coaching future by university students here, Lippi said he would not consider a club job in Italy.
He said it was ''only right'' that Italy should bid for the Euro 2008 crown under current coach Roberto Donadoni - but indicated that he might be waiting in the wings should Donadoni not be confirmed in the post.
Asked if he saw himself returning to the job, he replied: ''So far I haven't received any offers''.
Lippi said he'd turned down a few proposals from ''not very high level'' foreign clubs as well as inquiries to coach Greece, Ukraine and Mexico.
''I thanked them all but for the moment I prefer to bide my time''.
Lippi's successor Donadoni, who took over after the World Cup, was unhappy when he sealed Euro 2008 qualification not to get a vote of confidence in the shape of a new contract.
