Too busy to go to the gym? Maybe you haven’t got time to go furniture shopping either?
Your worries are over for Italy Magazine has found the perfect solution for you: meet the ciclotte, the exercise bike that is beautiful enough to function as an item of furniture too. No more worrying about where to store your exercise machine, for you can just leave this one out to be admired by all your envious visitors. Smart enough for the most status-conscious executive, the ciclotte would not look out of place in the office, either.
The bike, designed by Luca Schieppati for Bergamo company Lamiflex Spa, evolved from a 2005 design for a “ciclò”, now on permanent display at the Milan Triennale Design Museum.
The ciclotte is made of carbon fibre, fibre glass and steel and its one, large wheel is reminiscent of bicycles of the late nineteenth century. The crankset is inside the wheel. The saddle is said to be comfortable and can be adjusted in three directions to allow the user to carry out any of twelve exercise programmes. Schieppati says that the bike’s aesthetic qualities and advanced technology will allow the user to feel all the emotions of a cyclist out-of-doors.
There is no price information as yet but the ciclotte will be for sale online from 30th April.
