Technology continues to make greater inroads into Italian homes, according to socio-economic think tank Isae in its annual report on home buying trends.
During 2006, Isae observed, Italians bought fewer traditional appliances and more high tech goods and services, like digital TVs and faster internet connections.
At the same time, however, there was a decline last year in purchases of personal computers, satellite TVs and DVDs.
Sales of digital cameras and satellite navigators remained stable, Isae said, and while sales of dishwashers declined there was an increase for air conditioners.
In regards to durable goods, the Isae report found that the number of Italians who owned one automobile remained stable, although there was a decline for Italians owning more than one.
