Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari arrived in Milan on Friday for medical tests ahead of a move from Portsmouth in England.
Muntari, who will be 24 in a month, became Inter's prime transfer target after Chelsea's Frank Lampard moved out of reach.
He is no stranger to Italy, having played for Udinese from 2002 to 2007, collecting 113 appearances and eight goals.
Muntari joined Premier League outfit Portsmouth for a club record fee of around seven million pounds in May 2007, turning down offers from AC Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma.
He is a central midfielder but can also play on the left - the kind of versatile performer favoured by Inter's new boss, former Porto and Chelsea manager Jose' Mourinho. Muntari has 42 caps and 12 goals for Ghana.
