British supermodel Naomi Campbell has agreed a huge out-of-court settlement with an Italo-American actress who accused her of a Rome hotel attack.
Campbell, who was recently sentenced to anger-management courses for one of a string of violent temper tantrums in America, agreed to pay actress Yvonne Scio' 300,000 euros to prevent the case coming to court, according to judicial sources cited in the British tabloid press.
Campbell now places soothing crystals in her bra and panties to keep her from flying off the handle, the Mail on Sunday claimed.
"The problem is they tend to spill out every time I move," the model was quoted as saying.
Scio', a friend of Campbell's for 12 years, reportedly told Rome police on July 31 that Campbell's assault was "so ferocious" that afterwards "there was blood all over" the Rome hotel room.
The actress, 36, needed hospital treatment for cuts to her face and lip after the alleged incident at the five-star Hotel Eden in Rome.
A Rome police spokesman said at the time that Scio' claimed the "unwarranted attack" had followed a disagreement over the clothes the two women were wearing.
But Scio' gave another reeason to Italian gossip mag Chi: "Naomi beat me up because she was afraid I would take work away from her. She could have scarred me for life, ending my career. I was petrified with fear, so much so that I couldn't even cry for the pain".
At the time, Campbell, 36, denied the assault allegations.
In a statement released shortly after the incident, her spokesman said: "Naomi made it clear that there had been a disagreement between the two in which she told Miss Scio' that she was 'very disappointed at her behaviour and that she should go now'".
"The details of the conversation haven't been revealed, but Miss Campbell is adamant that she had words with the actress but nothing more than that."
