Manciano company obtains ICEA certification - Om Officinali di Montauto, one of the few Italian companies that produces chemical-free natural cosmetics made with traditional methods, recently received certification from the Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification (ICEA).
A pamphlet from the Manciano-based company explained that production in Santa Barbera di Montauto, between Saturnia and Capalbio, utilizes 30 types of plants from the Mediterranean brush cultivated over 130 hectares of land.
Lavender, myrrh, rosemary and calendula are cultivated over 40 hectares that follow strict ecological-agricultural standards: sun, rainwater, and attentive, expert hands.
Another 90 hectares are dedicated to spontaneous growth.
In all, more than 30 types of medicinal plants typical of the Mediterranean brush are grown there.
To give an idea of the uniqueness of the production, the pamphlet explained that over one quintal of lavender flowers are used to obtain just one litre of the precious essential oil.
In general, the products obtained are extracts, pure oils, tisanes and supplements.
As attested to by the ICEA certification, all of the articles in the Om Officinali di Montauto line are free of alcohol, perfumes, synthetic colours and animal by-products.
