New car sales up splightly in NovemberNew car sales in Italy rose 1.03% last month, over November 2006, and were 6.55% higher than the same period in 2006, sector sources said.

Used car sales slipped 0.02% compared to November of last year but were 1.41% higher in the first 11 months of the year than the same period of 2006.

Fiat's new car sales inched up 0.6% compared to November of last year, the lowest year-on-year rise of the year, while sales in the first 11 months were 8.5 greater than the same period in 2006.

Fiat's market share dipped to 30.91% compared to 31.03% in November 2006.

In October, Fiat's market share stood at 30.73%.

Fiat's market share for the first 11 months of the year was 31.31%, up from 30.74% for the same period last year.

Inside the Fiat group, the Fiat marque has a market share of 24.29%, compared to 24.05 a year earlier, Alfa Romeo fell to 2.78%, from 3.02 in November 2006, and Lancia retreated from 3.96% a year ago to 3.92%.

Sales of foreign makes last month were 1.03% higher than November 2006, with Ford the best-seller followed respectively by Opel, Volkswagen and Toyota.
