Ferrari on Tuesday gave a peek of its latest creation, the California GT, which completes the total revamping of the Italian carmaker's line.

The three photos of the car were posted on a special Ferrari website while the California's official presentation will take place at the Paris Automobile Show in October.

In the meantime, Ferrari intends to release information about the new car little by little through its special website, accessible through a link on its the official www.ferrariworld.com website.

Ferrari said that its www.ferraricalifornia.com site has been up and running since last Friday and, through word of mouth alone, had attracted over 60,000 hits from all over the world in just one weekend.

A total of 15% of these have already registered to ensure that they will be kept informed by email of the new revelations about the car between now and its virtual road tests.

Ferrari began to renew the range of its model in 2004 with the 612 Scaglietti while the Ferrari 430 Scuderia made its debit last year.

The California, which joins the flagship 612 Scaglietti in the Grand Turismo class, will have a V8 engine which, for the first time in the history of the marque, will be mounted in the center-front of the car.

The 4.2 liter V8 will generate 460HP at 7,500RPM and will accelerate from zero to 60kph in four seconds.

A double clutch system and seven-gear transmission will improve gas milage as well as ensure low fuel emissions.

The California GT will have a convertible hardtop and like all the new Ferrari models will have an aluminum frame and chassis.
