New mothers and mothers-to-be will now have special parking privileges at key points here in the Tuscan capital, the company which manages the city's parking lots announced on Tuesday.
''This is the first of a number of initiatives aimed at offering new services to meet the needs of the city,'' said Alessandro Lo Presti, chairman of Firenze Parcheggi SpA.
A total of 31 parking places have been side in parking lots and are distinguished by their pink lines and the symbol of a stork carrying a newborn by its diaper.
The parking lots are located near strategic locations, including as the Santa Maria Novella station, and the spaces reserved for new mothers and mothers-to-be are on the first floor of multilevel lots and near elevators.
