A Como man wolfed down more than half a kilo of fiery Italian chilli peppers in half an hour to become Italy's latest Mr Peperoncino.
With 559 grammes, Franco Rotunno pipped five-time champ Adriano Gatto who gobbled down 550g of the red-hot spices in the allotted time.
This year, for the first time, contestants from the Far East took part.
One of three Thai contenders came fourth with 220g.

In southern Italy the highest-profile is at Diamante near Cosenza in Calabria, which is open to all Italians and has had its winners appear on national TV.
One recent winner ate 700g compared to the 400-500g of runners-up.
