Italy's new skiing star Denise Karbon on Wednesday said she was tempted to dip her toes into the world of showbusiness.
Talking to women's weekly Donna Moderna, the 27-year-old said that while her natural place was on the pistes she admired people such as ''sunny'' Swiss TV personality Michelle Hunziker and would consider a move into celebrity stardom.
Karbon, who has had seven leg operations, got her first taste of the limelight when she hit Milan catwalks in a cashmere suit for the presentation of Italian fashion designer Laura Biagiotti's winter collection in January.
But the skier claims to be a retiring sort at heart.
''When I'm not on the slopes I like playing cards with my grandfather and doing embroidery,'' she said.
Karbon has been inundated by offers of sponsorship and television guest appearances since she clinched the women's World Cup giant slalom championship at Ofterschwang in Germany at the end of January.
The Ofterschwang win was her fifth out of the season's eight slaloms. Karbon sped to victory despite a broken thumb, bagging the title with two races to go.
