While work is considered a noble thing, office work is bad for the health, according to a study from the Milan Chamber of Commerce which found that 390,000 Milanese suffer from physical problems linked to the time they spend at the office.

The study said that stress had nothing to do with this and that new technolgies were the cause of office ills.

This because an office worker spends an average of five hours, ten minutes in front of a computer screen or on a cellphone and this can cause vision problems, backaches, pains to the hands and fingers, headaches and hearing problems.

Out of the 390,000 people who suffer from office-related health problems, 140,000 defined their ills as ''serious and constant''.

The study found that women more than men tend to suffer from office work, especially in regard to back pains and headache.
