Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived here on Thursday for talks with Italian officials.
Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, meets on Friday with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, Premier Silvio Berlusconi and Foreign Minister Franco Frattini.
Frattini visited Israel and the Palestinian territories earlier this week but was unable to meet with the the Palestinian leader who was away on a mission.
After Rome, Abbas head to Paris where he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on the sidelines of an international meeting July 13.
