Italy rugby coach Nick Mallet has called Overmach Parma centre Gilberto Pavan into the squad for Italy's third Six Nations match against Scotland at Murrayfield on February 28.
Pavan, 22, who would get his first cap if he plays, replaces Biarritz centre Andrea Masi who was banned for three matches for a dangerous tackle against Rob Kearney in Sunday's 38-9 defeat to Ireland in Rome.
Italy are bottom of the Six Nations table on points difference from Scotland following the Ireland defeat and a 36-11 loss to England at Twickenham on the first day.
Masi, who has been switched to full-back for Italy, will be available for Italy's match with Wales on 14 March.
