Scooter legend to be revived during seaside promotional tour - Legendary motorcycle producer Piaggio is bringing the "Ape-Calessino" back to life.

The three-wheeled motorcar was made famous during Italy's "Dolce Vita" phase in the 1950s and 60s.

Production is limited to just 999 vehicles, but the tour which kicked off from the resort of Portofino will bring the scooter to renowned Italian seaside resorts every Saturday night in July.

The sunset celebrations will be complete with aperitif, music and food.

Successive stops on the "Aperitivo Tour" include Forte dei Marmi (7 July), Capri (14 July), Taormina (21 July) and Porto Rotondo (28 July).

The "Ape-Calessino's" new design makes it safer and more manageable than ever before.

The three-wheeler boasts a blue body, cream-colored seat, white striped tires and tropical wood inlays.

It seats three passengers in addition to the driver and is priced at 8,590 euros.
