Italian police on Wednesday recovered a painting attributed to 18th-century Venetian master Giambattista Tiepolo that went missing from a private collection in 1980.
The painting, The Three Virtues, will be examined by experts for a definitive authentication, police said.
The work was found in a Genoese art dealer's shop along with three works by lesser-known artists which went missing in the 1970s.
The dealer was said to be unaware of the illicit provenance of the works.
