The visitors at the Pompeii archaeological complex will be offered from tomorrow until July 31 infusions and refreshing compresses as well as healing mud to fight the heat which were tricks Pliny the Elder advised to do two thousands years ago in his Naturalis Historia .
Pompeii will offer a rich calendar of thematic journeys and special initiatives on the summer theme. These include an exhibition entirely dedicated to water which will be held in the rediscovered Palestra Grande, a site brought to light between 1933 and 1935 and, except for a very short time, never re-opened for the public even after the restoration. The exhibition called Pompeii and Water is aimed at deepening the relation of the ancient city with both the sea environment and the rivers.
The complete programme of Entertainment in the Summer , fourth of the cycle The Seasons of Ancient Pompeii , curated by the Applied Research Laboratory of the archaeological site led by Anna Maria Ciarallo, will be presented tomorrow at the news conference during which the organisers will show for the first time the natural products which will be sold during the initiative at the complex.
