Kimi Raikkonen on Tuesday made his official debut behind the wheel of a Ferrari and although only testing last year's car, he defined the experience as "moving".
"It was great. I was a little excited and it was nice to be back in the driver's seat again," the Finn said.
The Ferrari newcomer completed 39 laps here at this circuit north of Rome but only five were on a dry track, due to the rainy weather.
Driving the 248 F1 car which gave Ferrari second place in the constructors' championship last year, Raikkonen clocked a best time of 1'15"226.
"My first impression was good, even if I would have preferred a few more dry laps," he added.
Raikkonen's teammate Felipe Massa drove the new F2007 car and in 74 laps had a best time of 1'14"493.
"I only got to look at it, but I hope to test it next week," Raikkonen mused.
The Brazilian was given the new car to test because his experience as Ferrari's second driver last year put him in a better position to compare the 2006 and 2007 cars.
When asked how the Ferrari 248F1 compared to the McLaren he drove last year, Raikkonen replied "you can't compare the two, they're just too different".
Raikkonen joined Ferrari to replace former world champion Michael Schumacher who resigned from active racing at the end of last season.
Schumacher, who won five of his record seven titles with Ferrari, has stayed on with the Italian team as a consultant.
