Italian cyclist Davide Rebellin on Wednesday denied taking a banned substance at the Beijing Olympics.
''My conscience is clear, I took nothing,'' said Rebellin after recent retesting of his A sample came up positive for the latest generation of blood booster EPO.
''I don't know what happened, it must have been a mistake,'' he said.
Rebellin, 37, won silver at the Games and recently won his third Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
He has been suspended pending the results of tests on the B sample and will be questioned by the Italian Olympic Committee on Monday.
