Brazil star Ronaldo is seeking to haunt the Inter fans who adored him for five years in his first derby as an AC Milan player Sunday afternoon.
The striker can expect a frosty welcome from the Nerazzurri faithful, who consider him a serial 'traitor' - first for leaving the club that had nursed him through three injury-ravaged seasons to sign for Real Madrid in 2002 and then for joining arch-rivals Milan this January.
Ronaldo scored four times against Milan in derby matches during his stint with Inter.
Milan chairman Silvio Berlusconi is confident the three-time FIFA World Player of the Year will start reimbursing those goals this weekend.
When asked if he thinks Ronaldo will score a goal against Inter, the former premier replied: "just one?".
Serie A leaders Inter are seeking consolation for being knocked out of the Champions League by Valencia Tuesday.
In contrast, Milan go into the game on a high after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition for the fifth consecutive year thanks to Wednesday's 1-0 win over Glasgow Celtic.
"This victory has fired us up for Sunday's game," said Milan playmaker Kaka, the author of the winning goal against Celtic.
"Inter will want to make up for being eliminated. It will be a great derby".
Inter are so far ahead of second-placed AS Roma - 16 points - that the result of the derby is unlikely to have any impact on the title race.
Milan need the points for their bid to climb up to the top four and qualify for next season's Champions League.
The six-time European Champions are sixth, three points behind fourth-placed Lazio, thanks to a 15-game unbeaten run that has enabled them to recover from a disastrous start.
The clash between the sides earlier in the season was an epic that ended 3-4 in Inter's favour.
That was the second victory in a record-breaking 17-match winning streak that helped put Inter so far ahead of the rest of the field.
Inter coach Roberto Mancini is without suspended Brazilian defender Maicon and injured midfielders Patrick Vieira and Esteban Cambiasso. Nicolas Burdisso is almost certain to miss the match because of a broken nose sustained during a brawl at the end of Tuesday's 0-0 draw in Valencia.
Milan's injuries are concentrated in the back-line, with defenders Kakha Kaladze, Alessandro Nesta and Serginho all in sick bay.
Like Milan, Roma will also have their tails up when they entertain Udinese (9th) on Sunday night, after making the Champions League quarter-finals with Tuesday's impressive 2-0 win in Lyon.
Third-placed Palermo are seeking to stop a slide in form on Sunday afternoon when the play host to an on-song Fiorentina side (7th).
Palermo have not won any of their last five games, while Fiorentina have won all but one of their last six and thrashed Torino 5-1 Sunday.
Lazio (4th) travel to Reggina (18th) seeking to continue a four-game run of victories, while revelation-of-the-season Empoli (5th) receive Tuscan rivals Livorno (12th).
There are four more Serie A games on Sunday afternoon: Atalanta (11th) - Parma (19th), Chievo Verona (16th) - Messina (17th), Siena (13th) - Ascoli (bottom) and Torino (15th) - Catania (10th).
On Saturday night Sampdoria (8th) welcome Cagliari (14th) to Genoa.
