Two farms to be built thanks to 27 million euro investment - Energetic Source, a Brescia-based company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Russian industrial giant Renova, sector leader in renewable energy source equipment manufacturing, will build two wind farms in Tuscany.
The project comes out of an agreement between Renova and Co.Svi.G., the development consortium for Tuscany's geothermal area. The farms will be built in Monterotondo Marittimo (near Grosseto) and Montecatini Val di Cecina (near Pisa).
The 27 million euro investment will produce a total of 16.5 megawatts of energy, enough to satisfy energy needs of over 27,000 families each year. The farm will also decrease annual CO2 emissions by 28,000 tons.
The two wind farms will consist of 11 wind generators, each less than 100 meters tall, with a combined power of 1.5 megawatts. Energetic Source will have a 30-year management contract while the equipment itself will remain the property of Co.Svi.G. The two wind farms will begin production at the end of 2008.
