SPA industry grows with San Casciano and Grotta GiustTerme del Benessere buys both companies - Cda di Stb spa business recently approved a merger for the incorporation of San Casciano Spa and Grotta Giusti Spa into Stb holding company.

The two natural spa resorts, located in San Casciano dei Bagni (Siena) and in Monsummano Terme (Pistoia), will maintain their brand names, Fonteverde and Grotta Giusti, respectively.

The new Stb will end this year with 25 million euros in sales and an employee base of 300.

The next move is the contribution of a real-estate fund created expressly by the real estate holdings of the company.

The operation undertaken by entrepreneur Leandro Gualtieri - will allow Stb to develop projects in the tourism and spa industry.

The word spa is an acronym for the Latin phrase 'salus per aquam.

Stb is run by Leandro Gualtieri, a Prato textile manufacturer who, following his experience in the spa industry - as founder of the Terme di Saturnia in 1984, which he then sold in 2000 - acquired first San Casciano dei Bagni then Grotta Giusti.

A third spa resort in San Giuliano Terme (Pisa) is in the bidding phase.

Fonteverde recently won the Crystal Award for best spa according to the Reader's Choice of American network Spa Finder.
