Tottenham Hotspur is interested in Inter Milan's World Cup-winning Italy defender Marco Materazzi, the player's agent said Wednesday.

''Over the last few days Tottenham has come forward with a certain insistence,'' said Claudio Vigorelli.

He said the Premier League side had not yet made an offer.

Materazzi, 35, has found it hard to claim a starting spot for Inter under Jose' Mourinho and is reportedly interested in a move, especially to England where he spent a year with Everton in 1998-1999.

As well as Spurs, Manchester City and Portsmouth have also been linked to him.

In 2006, shortly after the World Cup final where he scored Italy's equalizer against France and received Zinedine Zidane's infamous headbutt, Materazzi signed a contract extension with Inter running until 2010.

The central defender, nicknamed 'Matrix', has played 41 times for Italy, scoring twice.

He has played 161 times for Inter, scoring 18 goals and winning three league titles, two Italian Cups and three Italian Super Cups.
