Italian pop star Tiziano Ferro is to sing a virtual duet with Dean Martin on a high-profile tribute album for the late singer and actor.

Ferro, 27, will be the only Italian to sing on the album which will also feature the voices of world-famous performers such as Robbie Williams, Joss Stone and Kevin Spacey.

Italy's most popular male purveyor of Latin pop will sing the classic song 'Arrivederci Roma' on the album, with the voice of Dean Martin spliced in alongside his own.

He will also perform the duet on his summer tour, which kicks off on Friday in his home town of Latina, near Rome.

Martin, an American pop icon in the 1950s and 60s, scored several hits with songs that played on his Italian background, among them 'That's Amore', and 'Mambo Italiano'.

The singer, who died in 1995, was born in Ohio to Italian parents. His father was a barber from the Abruzzo region.

Ferro is one of the biggest names in Italian pop and has three highly successful albums to his credit. In 2006 his third studio album 'Nessuno e' solo' debuted at number one in Italy and Argentina and was later certified triple platinum.

In 2004 he and British R&B star Jamelia recorded Universal Prayer to promote the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. In that same year he won Best Italian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
