Roma star Francesco Totti will return to the Italy squad for two key Euro 2008 qualifiers against France and Ukraine in September, the Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) said Monday.
FIGC said Totti had agreed with Italy coach Roberto Donadoni that it was best for him to "make a full recovery" from an injury he sustained before the World Cup.
The Roma captain, Serie A's top scorer, still has metal pins in his right foot.
FIGC said Totti had sent his "affectionate regards" to the Italy players for the March 28 Euro qualifier against Scotland.
Totti has been criticised by some for appearing to put club before country.
Italy are third in qualifying Group 8, two points behind joint leaders Scotland and France. Ukraine is fourth, a point behind Italy.
