Cheese, bread, flour, spelt, honey and jams, potatoes, milk, tortelli, meats, chestnut, vegetable, organic fruits now 'travel' on four wheels.
The Mugello's traditional products now have a new showcase, a mobile vehicle bought and outfitted by the promotional consortium 'In Mugello' for approximately 70,000 euro, thanks to a contribution from the 'I tipici' project by Gal Start.
The vehicle will travel to shows, fairs and conferences with all of the goodness of the Mugello aboard. They will also have tourism materials and other information about the area.
It is the latest in a series of promotional projects for local specialties carried out by the ''In Mugello'' consortium.
Consortium president Franco Pasquini said, ''We are about to celebrate our second birthday and we have seen an increase in membership.
''Other than the outfitting of the new vehicle, we've created an additional 20 sales points in the Mugello, stores that will have corners' carrying our local products. We are cooperating with high level companies to diversify our presence at various trade shows''.
Mario Lastrucci, superintendent for agricultural development in the Mugello mountain community, is also satisfied with the new initiatives: ''For its part, the mountain community carried out a detailed census that brought to the selection and to the recognition of around 60 agricultural food products typical of our area.
''With the Marrone del Mugello Igp brand, we were able to obtain the recognition of the value of the product at the international level and several chestnut trees were saved.
''The census of the black and white truffles, in collaboration with the association of truffle producers, brought about the individualization and safeguarding of truffles in the city's urban instruments.
''Finally, in the production sector of dairy and meat products, elevated standards have been reached at the national and international levels.
''The creation of the 'In Mugello' consortium was a felicitous moment and today we can appreciate the results thanks to the newest promotional method''.
