Three cities thousands of miles apart but linked by the wind and sea - Trieste, Gibraltar and Reykjavik - have been grouped together by the German director Lutz Gregor.
He has chosen to explore the different locations through three episodes entitled Gente Nel Vento, which will have its world premiere at the Laguna Movies Festival concluding in Grado (Gorizia) on August 16.
Gente Nel Vento will be one of the focal points of Laguna Movies, which is this year dedicated to the wind and sea.
Gregor's project explores three places in Europe where people's daily life is strongly linked to the wind, from the Bora that blows through Trieste, to the Rock that batters the Icelandic islands to the Levante sweeping Gibraltar.
The second major event in the festival, Relitti e Misteri (Relicts and Mysteries), looks at the sea and its mysteries, a trip into the world of wreck recovery and the abysses, told through the mouths of experts and academics.
The next film in the festival will be the first sequences exploring the story of the Medusa, an Italian submarine constructed in Monfalcone (Gorizia) and sunk by the British submarine Thorn on January 30 1942 not far from the Pola naval base. The story is at the centre of a book by journalist Pietro Spirito entitled "Un Corpo Sul Fondo".
LagunaMovies gives tourists and film lovers the chance to experience first-hand the islands, islets, canals and submerged lands surrounding the city of Grado, combining the excitement of the big screen with stunning scenery.
It also offers the opportunity to experience the corners of Grado and Friuli Venezia Giulia that have been used as TV and film sets.
