Italy coach Pierre Berbizier has recalled veteran scrum-half Alessandro Troncon to his starting line-up for Saturday's Six Nations clash with England at Twickenham.
He gets the nod ahead of Paul Griffen, who was guilty of some of the poor decision-making that led to last weekend's 3-39 defeat to France.
Troncon returned to Azzurri action for the first time in two years when he came on for Griffen in the second half last week.
This Saturday the 33-year-old will make his 92nd Italy appearance, consolidating his position as the Azzurri's all-time most capped player.
Troncon's selection is one of six changes to the Italian starting line-up.
Two of those changes have been forced on Berbizier by injuries to Mauro Bergamasco - considered by many Italy's best player - and Andrea Masi.
Cammi Calvisano's Maurizio Zaffiri comes in at open-side flanker for Bergamasco, while Arix Viadana's Kaine Robertson takes Masi's place on the wing.
But Berbizier's decision to change his entire front-row is purely tactical.
The trio of props Carlos Nieto and Salvatore Perugini and hooker Fabio Ongaro failed to give their French counterparts much trouble last week.
So the coach has opted to replaced them with Martin Castrogiovanni and Andrea Lo Cicero (props) and Carlo Festuccia (hooker).
The arrival of Castrogiovanni, Festuccia and Lo Cicero in the second half of last week's match beefed up the Azzurri pack, although by that time it was too late to alter the course of the game.
At fly-half Berbizier is sticking with Andrea Scanavacca, who has recovered from the knock to the ribs that took him out of the France game in the early stages.
Berbizier said the non-enforced changes were made to ensure his team has "greater mental and athletic freshness after the first week of the Six Nations".
The former France legend called on his men to make better use of their chances to score.
"We have to learn to manage the game and improve our finishing," he said Thursday.
"We had opportunities to score 22 points in the first half against France, but we scored just three.
"We could have made our mark on the match in the initial stages, but they did instead.
"In fact, our opponents scored 22 of the 29 points possible from their attacking situations in the first half. That's the key".
Italy have never beaten England before. They have never won a Six Nations game away from home either.
