Turin gets 2010 Skating ChampionshipsItaly has been awarded the World Figure Skating Championships in 2010, the Italian ice sports federation FISG said on Wednesday.

FISG said the event would take place at the new PalaVela stadium in Turin which hosted the skating events at last year's Winter Olympics.

The championships will run from March 22 to March 28, 2010, FISG announced.

The showcase event of the International Skating Union (ISU) is expected to provide a further boost for the northern Italian city which gained great international exposure from the Olympics.

The ISU has already announced that the 2008 world championships will be held in Goteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden, and the 2009 event in Los Angeles.
