Tuscany is second in Italy in exports to UAE - Italian exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded 2.1 billion euros (+41.3%) in the second trimester of 2007, according to a report by the Milan Chamber of Commerce based on data from national statistics bureau ISTAT.
Tuscany benefited tremendously from such exports and was second only to Lombardy in exports sent to the UAE.
Tuscany had a total of 389 million euros (18.4% of the total, +31.1%) in sales, while Lombardy had 649 million euros (30.6% of total, +55.9%).
Veneto followed Tuscany with 253 million euros (11.9% of total, +14.7%).
Import-export figures were up 37% on the national level.
In this context, Tuscany is the leading region with respect to value.
In fact, after Lombardy (with 700 million euros, 30,9% of national import-export, +44% with respect to the same period last year), Tuscany presents a balance of 397 million euros with the UAE (17,6% of the total, +29,4%).
Among the most exported products are machines and other mechanical devices.
