The Terme di Saturnia is an enchanted corner of the heart of Maremma, Tuscany that boasts thermal waters and hydro-massage, but also golf courses, tennis and green space where you can relax.
The hot springs are one of the most important tourist attractions in the area and continuously bring in business from little more than 900 beds in 2000, the city of Manciano now boasts more than 2,000.
''I think the fact that beds have more than doubled over the last eight years is an uncontested and significant piece of data, as is the fact that we employ 250 people full time and generate significant related business'', said Maurizio Cossalter, general manager of the Terme di Saturnia Spa.
Among the hot spring's characteristics is the 37°C water.
''You can immerse yourself in a huge natural thermal pool that is continuously renewed and contains important therapeutic properties useful in combating bone disease, inflammation that are also beneficial for your skin''.
The local resort set amongst the beautiful countryside offers 50 treatment rooms, a fitness area, three restaurants, outdoor pools and 140 hotel rooms with 71 junior suites, 3 suites and 2 large suites.
The spa is distinguished for its Mediterranean cuisine, as evidenced by the innovative dishes at the Aqualuce restaurant. Intense flavours follow the philosophy of well being in addition to offering delicious, light dishes.
Visitors will find Roman baths in the spa area, which recreates the atmosphere of the ancient baths beginning with the Turkish bath and shower that individuals choose based on their state of mind: tonic with orange light, embracing with vaporized steam or relaxing with blue light.
And, to finish things off visitors can take a steam bath or enjoy a regenerating organic sauna.

The gym area caters to workout enthusiasts, while others choose to take advantage of the whirlpool spas, waterfalls and hot/cold pools. There is even an art gallery where the Tuscan and Roman nobility meet, and the great masters of the 19th century live alongside the jewels of the 30s and 40s.
Those looking for beauty treatments will find them at the Aldo Coppola by Terme di Saturnia hair salon, as well as at the Spazio Cruciani and Spa Boutique. All of these factors contribute to the Terme di Saturnia being ''the biggest and most recognized spa in Europe''.

And that's not all. Surprises are in store for the next two years. Cossalter announced, ''We've planned the development of 25 golf suites that will be situated in medieval town overlooking the links''.
Not to be forgotten is the myth that supposedly brought Saturnia into being. Legend has it that one day, an angry Saturn took a lightening bolt and threw it into the ground, creating a volcano of warm sulphur waters: the waters of the Terme di Saturnia.
