Italy's unemployment rate fell to a 14-year low last year dropping to 6.1% of the labor force compared to 6.8% in 2006, national statistics bureau Istat reported on Thursday.
However, due to an increase in the working force, the number of people looking for work rose by an average of 1.1% in 2007.
The number of people holding jobs climbed 1% in 2007 over the previous year. Nevertheless, while 234,000 people found jobs this was almost half the 425,000 to beame employe din 2006.
