University of Pisa has role with winning Ferrari and DucatiExperts help Formula 1 and MotoGP teams - Several individuals affiliated with the University of Pisa played a part in this year's Ferrari Formula 1 and Ducati MotoGP world championship victories.

Various technicians and engineers on the two winning squads are either alumni or current staff of the renowned university.

According to a list released by the school, one such individual is alumni Luciano Mariella, a 41-year old head of the Ferrari fluid dynamic calculation team that develops aerodynamic projects for Formula 1 single-seater cars.

Also part of the Ferrari team is Maurizio Davini, an employee at the Enrico Fermi Department of Physics at the University of Pisa.

Davini collaborates with the Ferrari information systems group through his work on 'technology tracking' and other activities connected to HPC (High Performance Computing).

Thirty-three year old Marco Amorosa is in charge of vehicle dynamics in the racing department at Ducati, the racing team that currently dominates the MotoGP world with Casey Stoner.
