Vieira at Inter to win

France midfielder Patrick Vieira said Wednesday that he has moved from Juventus to Inter Milan because he wants to "win a lot more".

The 30-year-old, who transferred to Inter for 9.5 million euros, has joined an exodus of stars who have left Juventus because they do not want to play in Serie B. The Turin giants have been relegated for the former management's part in a match-fixing scandal and must start next season with a 17-point handicap.

"When I heard about the sentence I spoke with the Juve managers and explained my intention (to leave)," the former Arsenal captain said at his presentation as an Inter player.

The fallen Turin giants paid around 20 million euros to lure Vieira from Arsenal last summer. He won the Serie A championship in his season at Juve, but the title was then revoked as part of the punishment and given to his new club.

Despite the less-than-glorious exit, Vieira said he has fond memories of his time in Turin.

"It was a positive period," he said. "The club treated me well".

The other big names to have left Juventus are Azzurri World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro and Brazil midfielder Emerson, who joined Real Madrid, France defender Lilian Thuram and Italy full-back Gianluca Zambrotta, who moved to Barcelona.
