West Ham United have signed Lazio's Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami, the London club's website said Wednesday.
Behrami, 23, signed a five-year contract taking him up to 2013.
West Ham said the deal was worth five million pounds (6.3 million euros).
Behrami, who was born to Kosovar parents, joined Lazio from Verona in 2005 and played for them 64 times, scoring four goals including the winner in the last Roman derby against AS Roma.
The versatile performer, who can play across midfield and at right back, has 15 Swiss caps and two goals for his country.
He played all three games at Euro 2008.
