Wine: exports up

Wine exports are up 6%, European markets continue to grow (especially Germany and the UK) and new markets are being developed (China and India).

These are only some of the data from Irpet's 2007 study (relating to the first nine months of 2007) that accompanies the 820 Tuscan operators that, beginning Thursday, represent the Tuscan wine producing regions at the 42nd edition of Vinitaly in Verona.

Tuscan wine will present itself with a constant ability to succeed on global markets.

Following a positive 2006 numbers, 2007 also followed suit: the 6% indicated by Irpet (8.3% for white wines) is the fruit of the return of our wines on the German market (+6%), a strong increase on Anglo-markets (+22.7%) and an upswing (even though the value is still quite modest) on the Chinese (+96.5%) and Indian (147.7%) markets. Exports to the US have slowed down (+1.1%) due primarily to the weak dollar.
