6703 tortoreto

yesterday evening we were down on the coast... we have friends coming over with young children that wanted to spend a week pampering to their needs of sand sea and ice cream... the problem was they had chosen august and its often quite difficult here in Italy to book anything say weekly over that period because italians tend to book the whole month.... a year in advance

anyway we found this place on the internet... and last night we actually saw the place for real...its ouside the coastal part ... but has a shuttle bus down to the beach and each apartment includes a reserved beach space with umbrella etc... and it has a pool and a restaurant and bar...

so despite not yet being fully open it all looked very well maintained and tidy... great views out over the coastline... tortoreto is one of the few developed coastal towns that doesnt have masses of high rise apartments or hotels... its one of the most popular resorts for people that live in teramo as a second home for the summe... so its a very italian feeling place and largely a family resort...

anyway am posting the site ...despite not being able to say i know anyone that has stayed here ... yet... the lady that runs the place also speaks english so even phone calls can be made even if you dont speak italian...

they have availability still outside of august and a few 4 person apartments during august....

am afraid it will be a typical italian place to stay... am sure there will be lots of intermingling and shared meals... and i would think there will be plenty of younger children around so a bit of italian is bound to be learnt...

i should say if there is one thing to be cautious of in the place is that there is the motorway behind... and there are some of the apartments that are closer to that... the majoity are further down the hill and closer to the pool,,, and you dont here the sound of the road at all... so i would want to make sure i was booking a place in that area...

the other thing is that if you dont want to hire a car it says on their site you can get a free bus from the airport... once your at the place you most probably wouldnt need to drive anyway... so its an opportunity for those that dont want to or like to spend their holidays driving to not have to worry about things in that sense

i will be able to let you know more after august... or maybe someone on here has already stayed there... whatever... its a place to stay that at first siight looks pleasant
