When I was sorting out floor tiles, I couldn't find old tiles to match those in the house (or at least, not nearby, nor at an affordable price).
So, now, a year on, my neighbour has been pulling up his old tiles. I told him to take them out without breaking them, as other house-restructurers like myself might be looking for them. About 7 sq metres came out in good condition (my rough estimate!).
They are square, red or beige (usually laid in a check pattern), 25cm x 25cm. The base is cement I think, and they date back about 100 years I'm told. Given that I've seen these for sale for €100 a square metre, I'd suggest offering him a token sum of €10-20 a square metre.
He wants them out of the way soon, so do shout if you're interested in buying them. We're in Abruzzo, near Sulmona and the autostrada.
