5095 Modena English-Italian conversation exchange
I am posting this and I hope it will be acceptable to the forum.
My sister Teresa is Italian and she is specialized in Human Resources for Insurance Companies. She works part-time and from home, lives in the centre of Modena, and has only one little daughter Guia who is 9. They both speak English quite well.
During my last visit to them, my sister was complaining that she is not practising her English as much as she would like and that she is actually forgetting it because she is not using English in her daily working life.
Teresa would like to have more opportunities for herself and for her young daughter to converse with English native speakers. Any advice, contribution the forum would like to offer? Any Native English speakers my sister could interact with in Modena?
Please read on:
My sister has already daily domestic help and she is not looking for an Au Pair or an English nanny. She lives right in the centre of Modena in a very pretty 3 bedroom apartment.
She is hospitable and she would be glad to offer room and board for periods of time to a female English native speaker who likes Italy and Italian culture in her home in exchange for English conversation with her and with her daughter.
I see that in the Forum there are often female individuals who would like to spend a period of time in Italy, and are just getting started figuring out how to go about doing this.
I think that to spend a period of time in Italy with my sister for a few weeks could be an excellent introduction to Italian life. In Modena there is also a good school of Italian Language for Foreigners www.romanica.it, and Modena itself is a beautiful town. In the summer, my sister has a holiday home in Porto S. Giorgio in Le Marche and similar hospitality could be worked out.
If anyone out there would like to help by putting Teresa (bancale2002@libero.it) in touch with your girlfriends or if you would like to spend some time yourself in Modena please get in touch with us. My direct e-mail is valeria.joyal@tiscali.co.uk
Many thanks.
