6518 Parco Dei Mostri, Bomarzo
Thought I'd mention a nice place for an outing if you are travelling around the A1 near the Lazio/Umbria border.
Parco dei Mostri di Bomarzo is a relatively small, but fun place near Bomarzo (about 7 Km off the Attigliano exit from A1). The park dates from the 1550's and is the crazy creation of a prince who fancied himself as a sculptor. It's full of fantasy sculptures on a BIG scale. It was entirely lost for hundereds of years and was only rediscovered & restored in the 20th century.

As you can see, the quality of the sculpure isn't quite up there with the 3 Graces  , but its good fun and doesn't take itself at all seriously. Its all outdoors, with nice shady walks between the sculptures. I don't have kids, but I reckon they'd love it.
It costs about 10E per adult to get in, and you'd probably spend a couple of hours there. If you have time, the small adjacent town of Bomarzo is absolutely pristine example of an Italian hill town - the locals really keep it looking good and theres nice little details all over (bespoke brass letter boxes etc.) - well worth a potter if you like that sort of thing.
