 Ascoli Piceno has 12 Romanesque churches in the centro storico but unfortunately most of these are closed except for special occasions such as weddings. When we have been out and have seen some of these open unexpectedly we always take the time to look inside not knowing when we would ever get the opportunity again.
The Provincia de Ascoli Piceno and the Diocesano di Ascoli Piceno have arranged special showings of some of these churches from July until the middle of September. The churches that are accessible to visit during this time are San Vittore, San Gregorio Magno and San Vincenzo e Anastasio as well as the Battistero di San Giovanni which are open Tuesday thru Sunday 4:30PM – 9PM.
There are also three others open by a guided tour to San Venanzio, San Giacomo and Santa Maria Intervineas; starting at San Vittore. These are Tuesday thru Sunday at 4:30PM and Saturday/Sunday mornings at 10:30AM.
