The latest update indicates that bird flu has been identified in Greece as well. This marks a very rapid westward expansion after nearly two years of limited spread across Asia.
Given that domestic poulty is the most common source for animal to human transmission of the disease, and that in rural Italy many people do still keep poultry, what risk has been identified by the Italian authorities and what steps are they taking to safeguard the poultry industry and Italian citizens?
