[I]center of attention at a court hearing here called to [/I]
[I]determine whether the device was an offense to the nation.[/I]
[I]The object was the work of two local artists and had been [/I]
[I]on display at the Bolzano Museum of Modern Art until it was [/I]
[I]impounded several days ago.[/I]

[I]Lawyers for the museum argued that the object should not [/I]
[I]have been seized because the anthem, while having patriotic [/I]
[I]and sentimental value, was not an official symbol of the [/I]
[I]nation.[/I]

[I]The prosecution, on the other hand, presented excerpts [/I]
[I]from speechs by former president Carlo Azeglio Ciampi who [/I]
[I]highlighted the patriotic nature of the song.[/I]
[I]The prosecution also cited a decree issued this year by [/I]
[I]the ex-government of Silvio Berlusconi which defined the [/I]
[I]national anthem as an emblem of the state.[/I]
[I]The judge said he would make his ruling in the coming [/I]
[I]days.[/I]
