[LEFT]yesterday was a day remembered in abruzzo that really effects the whole of italy ...almost 30,000 died in an earthquake centered around the area of avezzano which in essence was completely destroyed by the quake... but it also took a heavy toll on places like sora, pescina and celano...
all a long time ago... but remembered because of the scale of the tragedy and in avezzano there is a memorial to the day and the victims...

its one of those days in italies history which like the floods of florence show that when italians are called on to work together to help their neighbours there is a massive national repsonse
it also i think puts into perspective the rules and regulations that we all get a bit tired of as regards builds and buildings... having never lived in an earthquake zoned part of the world we do not have that memory of the history of the past disasters which might make some of the rules and regs...the uses of massive armoured cement structures which often seem to upset many on here..... as a way of securing safety...
anyway its an interesting story... not one to worry over...things have moved on ... but maybe it will help to make sense of the italian way of building and also give a perspective on what is the best of the nature of italy as a nation when its called to respond to difficult times
