7450 The prive of olive oil for farmers

QUESTION SET 1-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am looking at a property for sale .

There are 100 olive trees on the farm which at present is producing 250 litres of oil.

The olive grove is young.

Now for my nieve questions ..

Is 250 l a good yield for this amount of trees?

Secondly what roughly would this be worth if sold on .

I appreciate there is a sliding scale due to quality ect but i am looking for an average price.

I am just trying to get figures together to weigh up the valuation of the property .

I am looking at a farm in calabria which has a small vinyard .

How small i dont know .I will be going to see the property in October.

The farm has been unoccupied for 4 years and i worry the vinyard has been neglected.

My questions are as follows.

I appreciate that every vinyard is different but in general will it be possible to bring this vinyard back up to scratch if it has been neglected for so long .

i have no experience in farming never mind a vinyard .In fact im not even a gardener.

The vinyard would not be our primary income but if it was worth my while i would be interested in it for extra income .

I dont think it is that big so there is not going to be a fear of a wine shortage .

This subject is huge but is it expensive to set up the initail planting ect?????

I have started doing some homework on the internet but this is not my field and due to my inexperience i dont know if i have the ability to carry it on.

I know everyone has to learn but with a tight budget that i have is it worth it.

If the vinyard is an expensive project with little monetary return then i may consider using the land for something else.

Any point in the general direction would be helpfull....:confused::confused:

I am looking at buying a run down framhouse in Calabria.

Does anyone know if there is goverment grants to help in the renovation of the houses??

What is the criteria and how do you go about it ?????

Any advice would be appreciated.

I am looking to move over there and rent out self contained flats.

This is all new to me and i have had my head in the computer doing research and trying to convince myself its a goer....

I am also considering putting wooden chalets on the land .

Again i know i will require building permission and probably a legal minefield .

I so want to move out to Italy but i need to do more work .

Any advice or point in the right direction would be a help.
