Wanted – for new primetime Channel 4 series
British would-be small-holders planning a move

Are you planning or have recently made a move to rural Italy? Would you like specialist help and valuable publicity for your agricultural or small-holding based venture? If so, then you could be the people Channel 4 are looking for to participate in a major new series to be filmed over the next 12 months.

The programme
‘Field of Dreams’ (w/t) is a new series to be produced for Channel 4. The programme will follow a number of British families/couples as they leave behind the UK in order to resettle in Italy and other countries. They particularly want to follow families who are planning on setting up a home and lifestyle that will rely on income generated by agriculture to support it. For example, the families might be looking to take over and run an olive grove, a vineyard, a walnut farm, lavender production or some other such agricultural venture. It may be that they would like to downshift in order to run a small-holding and have a drea of becoming entirely self-sufficient. The programme makers would like to follow these families on their journey over the period of a year, visiting them intermittently and at crucial times during the venture.

What’s in it for you?
This new programme promises to take a serious look at the challenges and opportunities for people making such a move. The participating families will be mentored by a key presenter who will also be able to provide advice and an impartial point of view. The programme makers would also be interested drafting in help from local or agricultural specialists, smallholding experts as well as business advice and lifestyle change support, as and when appropriate. The programme is expected to be similar in tone to the popular Grand Designs series and is likely to take a Sunday evening slot.
