8369 Calabria 2010 - Il Ritorno (The Homecoming)

Dear friends

I hope this is an appropriate place to make this announcement. Forgive me if not. But, we think this is of great interest to anyone who loves Italy - especially its southern regions. The news is this: we are organizing a very big, very important cultural event in the summer of 2010 (which only seems a long way off).

The [B][COLOR=green]Calabria 2010 Homecoming[/COLOR][/B] is a festival that will run from June to September in the summer of 2010. It will feature an array of events, concerts and other activities in all 5 of Calabria's provinces and every comune in the Region is being asked to sponsor special festivals, sagre and other events.

Everyone is invited, of course, but a special invitation is directed to any of the 12 million or so people around the world who can trace their ancestry to Calabria as a result of the great diaspora that took place between 1870 and 1930.

We have created a special website for the project where anyone can register to receive a regular newsletter to keep them informed of major developments. Please visit and then ask everyone you know to visit the site and register - especially those of Calabrian heritage.

We created a special website because we would like ItalyMag and any other travel company or tour operator with an interest in Italy to participate in this project. Banner exchanges and other forms of cooperation and collaboration are welcome.

When you visit the Calabria2010 website you will see it is a work in progress - we just opened it and will be adding new information on a weekly basis from now until well after summer of 2010 is over.
