Well we made it and it was a great success. The flight was from Stansted (1p) to Capestrano were we found a number 38 bus to the rail station waiting. From there we took a taxi to the Hotel Prestige in Montesilvano. The next morning we discovered that the 38 runs every 10 minutes and all the way from the airport past the end of our hotel street. Hey ho! Such are the joys of learning curves.
After a couple of days fact finding we hired a car and took our friend to Capestrano (the place of her birth). There was joy but also many tears. Most of her old friends had departed (in more ways than one) but she did meet one old school friend. We meet some very nice people in the village and around and found the scenery fantastic. To cap it all we flew home for 1 euro.

The bus station is at the rail station (handy) as is a very good information office and there are coaches to almost anywhere. Pescara to Capestrano 1 to 2 hours depending on the route/time. We didn’t bother.
